One of the worst performances from the team I have ever seen. Even with the injuries this is not excused. They haven't been right mentally or physically in 2015. Can't believe they thought they could get away with that level of intensity against Atletico. I can't imagine that Ancelotti wouldn't have made that clear so it must be the players. Ronaldo should be benched for at least a game. I can't wait until Modric is back to unburden Kroos in midfield.

Season over for Villarreal as Bruno Soriano fractured his fibula in yesterday's Copa del Rey match at Barcelona (1:3), which pretty much rules out him for the rest of the season. He is probably the only player who is irreplaceable, not only because of his skills set, but also his leadership and physical attributes.

Pina, Jonathan do Santos and Manu Trigueros will have to really step up now, but I have my serious doubts what can they do. The fact that Villarreal is playing in Europe League isn't helping here either, don't see anyone else who could be pushed to double pivot spot in current squad.

I would rather a team like Valencia finish 4th instead of Villarreall anyway. They are much more suited to CL football. If Valencia stop selling players and keep on buying players like Enzo Perez then they could establish themselves as a CL club again.

Real Madrid - Villarreal 1:1.

Really surprised with this result, especially when Marcelino put many starters on the bench hoping for a miracle against Barcelona in Copa del Rey on Wednesday.

Another well taken goal by Gerard Moreno. Bailly had a rough evening, he seems to be very raw yet, probably on similar level to Gabriel Paulista two years ago. Hopefully he can progress like him too.

Villarrea newcomers keep amazing me, this time it's Sergio Marcos from B team who had a very decent performance.

Still not impressed with Campbell's all around game, he will never make it as a winger for Villarreal IMO. Puts a very good shift though.

Team seems to do better regarding dealing with Bruno absence in recent games.

I am going to put it all on the line here and say that we (Barca) will win the CL this year, it's impossible to win it twice in a row, Bayern are too top heavy and are weak defensively. We seem to have the beatings of Atletico. We are peaking at just the right time, the signings of Suarez, Rakotic and Matheiu are all coming good. We are the most well balanced, we have the best chance I think.

I'd like to see you do that without Busquets. Ale

Vietto. <Ale>

How do Argentina keep on producing all these class forwards? Me thinks it is because Argentinians generally seem to have the technique of Spanish players mixed with the athleticism of Brazilian players. Those metizo genes make players like Messi, Aguero and Tevez powerful and fast.

No surprises with starting XI's:

Barca: Bravo, Pique, Rakitic, Iniesta, Suarez, Messi, Neymar, Mascherano, Alba, Alves, Mathieu.

Real XI: Casillas, Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo; Kroos, Modric, Isco; Bale, Ronaldo, Benzema

Horrible result of course, but I'm satisfied with the performance. Could have gone either way, the timing of the Suarez goal demoralised the team Bcoz thats when we had just missed some good chances.

Great take and finish from Suarez for his goal. His final ball passing was poor though. Disappointing as he was in such great positions.

Simeone has renewed his contract with Atleti through 2020. Supposedly signing Cavani was a condition of his new deal so we'll see what the summer brings.

I hope that comes through but I have sneaking feeling that PSG know that Zlatan is starting to decline and that it would make more sense to bet on Cavani from now on. On the other hand Cavani will want affirmation that he will be the main striker next season and if PSG keept Zlatan around Cavani will leave.

I know Cavani would be improvement on both of them and he has a workrate which Simeone demands, but what about Griezmann and Torres future then?

I think Torres now is back to retire in Atleti not to command a first team place. I think he knows he is part of the squad and Simeone seems to be getting more out of him than anyone since he left Liverpool. But he's 31 now so I think he is ok with being a rotational player. My guess is that if anyone is under threat to leave it's Mandzukic who hasn't really been that bad but I think the consensus is that he hasn't really turned up when it counts. I could be wrong. Griezmann I doubt would leave unless a huge offer from England came.

365 days since the last time Iniesta scored a goal or gave an assist. FFS he's worse than Bale!

Is that really the case?! That's pretty incredible. I know stats aren't everything.. But 0 goals and assists for someone like that is insane.
