Lampard was one of the best players, Wilshire was one of the worst. Says it all really that you think wilshire is england's best midfielder, yet when he plays he's considerably worse than gerrard and lampard.

Lost (90% of the people are stupid) in all of that play is the initial Chielline elbow to the face of Suárez...BOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!

Suárez's natural tendency is to retaliate and he did with a bite and a missed headbutt. Chiellini responded with another elbow to Suárez's face but missed this time.

Todo, when does Copa América start?  Biggrin <Ale>

and Abete too.

Prandelli is a good coach but he got it wrong at this tournament. Costa Rica was an abject display where he played 5 in midfield against a minnow team. In the Uruguay game, the 3-5-2 didnt work, Immobile-Balotelli partnership didnt work and he was essentially playing for a draw, which is risky because one crazy moment or lapse in concentration can throw your plans out of the window (as we saw). Some selections will be questioned - the Rossi one is obvious, but he also had no backup for De Sciglio despite Pasqual and Criscito being available.

Ancelotti would be the best replacement but i don't think he will leave Madrid. Spalletti seems like an obvious candidate.

Actually copa america only has 10 teams, so that starts at the quarter final stage, hence anyone (e.g. uruguay) can fluke 3 games and win it all.

People here at the opffice didn't know he had bitten other players before (I only know this because of this forum). That's why it was important for him to do it in the WC. Now he'll become kown worldwide as a hero.  ok

Good of him to take responsibility, but I hope FIGC makes him reconsider. Yes, Italy went out mostly because of his tactical errors, but he also done a lot of good work rebuilding this side from the disaster that was 2010 which came from years of neglecting youth development. He is good at managing young talent, and one of those rare Italian coaches who are not scared to give kids a shot. He has managed to mask the general lack of talent in Italian football. I think he should continue, he is good for Italy...

I think there is a translation problem here, hero doesn't mean c**t.

All the Italian players waited in the dressing room for Prandelli to finish his press conference.

Except Balotelli who was by himself on the team bus.

He has yet to bite someone in the champion's league as well, maybe the next season.

maybe he'll get a ban and have to wear a muzzle

Shouldn't have bothered getting off in the first place. Who are the idiots who keep saying he has talent like messi and cronaldo? He really doesn't.

BoBo Vieri 32 wrote:the centre back positions are still a real problem for Italy. Chiellini was the worst of them.

Since 2004 lots of players have been dubbed the new Nesta/Cannavaro (Ferrari, Santacroce, Ranocchia, Andreoli, Barzagli) but none of them have amounted to anything.

Even got the right number to give you a clue...

He obviously prefers money to football but playing in a lesser league (and it isn't that bad) doesn't seem to hinder international performance.

Prandelli should manage England if he cares so much about club form - Immobile hasn't got it and he should have gone with Giaccherrini and maybe Giovinco as they allow flexibility and have performed well at EUROS/Confed.

Also should have gone for Borini to run in behind.

Italy still doesn't produce enough players who can sprint - that in teh forwards and lack of creativity in final 3rd real problem.

Marchisio was never a red - ref knows the rule but not the reason for it.

Not enough force/weighjt o be dangerous plus his intention was obviously to put foot either side of ball and shield.

So bizarre that 2 World Cup 1st round exits have a Euro final inbetween - I'm sure Puro will have his theory for that (just bad squad selections by 2 diff managers at 2 WC's in truth)

I think it was a red as much as Suarez bite. He just forgot the ball and went straight on the knee. That's blatant physical agression for me.

Besides, there was a penalty on Cavani. He was hold from behind in the second half inside the box. That's a foul.

watched first half Colombia-Japan but I guess I'll see if Ivory Coast can salvage things 2nd half. Japan got a very iffy defence & not much threat in attack. Colombia taking it easy.

and then as I type Japan score from nowhere Laughing
