Dutch as well...Latin and Balkan players are always close to exploding so you have to play on the edge against them and influence the ref.

Good theory.

I really don't think Italy will beat Costa Rica. To tell the truth, I don't think Italy wil win another game in the group stage.

I remember Van Bommel at the last WC. He talked to the referee during the whole match. He got away with many repeated fouls and got his firt yellow card only in the semifinals.

I can't see Italy finishing the group stage with 9 points. It would be so unItalian.

Rooney did fuck all bar the tap in. Sturridge was pretty poor as well.

The defence were absolutely woeful besides Cahill, not sure how Uruguay didn't score more. We gave them so much respect.

Lambert and Lallana needed to come on at half time, Barkley again was meh, waste of time throwing a rash kid on in such a situation.

Ultimately I don't think the players really believed in themselves and that boils down to Hodgson. You can say what you like but we know he's not a man who will big up his players and get them motivated. All he ever comes out with is things like saying how difficult a task it will be to get out the group or that draws are great results. England have a good squad with some exciting players - they're not amazing by any stretch but you need a manager like Rodgers or Simeone or someone with a bit of passion to get them fired up and believing. That isn't Roy Hodgson.

Thats why you have to remain cool yet influence the ref. Latinos have a lot of passion yet this is also their downfall. North Europeans have to remain cool and clinical when playing Latinos. Never ever try to emulate them like Holland did in 2006. Cause then you fail. There is a Mello in every Latin player.

Oh I hope Costa Rica knock us out tomorrow.

I cant bear to witness a 89th minute Suarez equaliser next week against Italy...

I honestly am still struggling to understand how England managed to lose that game at 1-1. Incredulous really. And yet so very typical.

That goal - basically from a lofted route one kick, was an embarrassment to concede from. Had control of the game at that point. Total lack of balls from Gerrard.

Good to see Luis defending him for it though lol!

Why aren't the defenders anticipating that could happen though? Gerrard not winning that header shouldn't mean Suarez is through like that.

Both Gerrard and Jagielka are to blame. Jagielka is just passing through though and will probably be replaced soon, no one expects a big performance from him.

Suppose Costa Rica manage to beat Italy and then Uruguay beat Italy. Uruguay and Costa Rica would qualify. It's hard to happen, but not THAT hard IMO. You never know what to expect from Italy, and now we know Costa Rica is not that bad.

but then we could concede a 90th minute Costa Rica winner (assuming we weren't losing already!) and make Suarez cry. it would be the only consolation left.

I don't think that should be a second yellow for Katsouranis. It wasn't that bad a foul, just a mistimed non dangerous tackle.

You don't think Australia can be proud of its performance against the Dutch, given you are three times World cup finalists (losers every time I might add - 'such born winners', hey), were in the last final, and had just beaten Spain 5-1?

You are spot on, Fey. It is a NATIONAL DISGRACE to be proud of your players despite defeat. The Dutch would never do such a thing...

Different is, I never claimed Holland had a winning mentality, which was said about Australia compared to England. Which is wrong in my eyes. If you lose from a natural born loser..and are still proud of that, now that's quite sad!

Football is a niche sport in Australia, their players are mostly lower league standard, it's their mentality that makes them competitive. With England it is their mentality that makes them lose every big game.

I know. Corinthians lost about two hundred Libertadores because of our Mellos. By the way, Brazilian Mellos get out much easier than Argentine/Uruguayan Mellos, and they are the biggest specialists in the world of bringing Brazilian Mellos out. You should consult them.  ok
