Also the player's top speed is usually seen as they wheel away towards the corner flag in celebration, not during the actual game Wink

That is true and at times his pace comes through but for the most part I have never thought he had a big advantage in that department. Probably a 8 in pace at best.

This game could be the crossroads for the WC. Germany wins the game it breaks the South American dominance they have over european national sides on their turf.

Argentina win it breaks the myth that talented and highly coached individuals brought through the system with the best tuition money can buy do not deliver at the very top.

Germany win the game will change dramatically for countries that have the capabilities to seriously adopt training methods and are adaptable.

Argentina win it Brazil ends up completely whitewashed leaving them to make the best decision build on the ghosts and legends from the past, keep home grown players in their country and build the talent base at home.

As a neutral to say I do not care who wins is untrue. I want the under dog to win.

Argentina as a team shows more guts and is playing on their side of the pond.

Germany have not proven their game can win the WC

Argentina's game has won WC's for many countries and easily adaptable for their set up.

Germany is the underdog.

Actually, Higuain is a very fast forward, not many are faster than him in the tournament. It makes sense to check out the official stats once in a while, quite a few myths can be easily debunked...

I am quite impressed, yet confused by Ozil's top speed

I am amused by xavi's top speed

And surprised that lallana seems to be the fastest English player

Has this been mentioned yet? Are the Argentinians not worried about there being a gaping hole at the back now?  Wink

I wonder what the German heartbeat is atm? Shame it's not Holland-Germany as a final, but most likely Germany is too strong atm. Amazing how many Dutch people are supporting Germany tonight, mad. Even called my Grandfather the other day, and he supports them as well.

Anyway, with Germany having one of the youngest teams and Argetina one of the oldest, it shows that age shouldnt matter. Many pundits always think squad have to be quite old to succeed in the WC.

I do think Holland's result against brazil puts the 7-1 in perspective. Perhaps we might get a game afterall.

It's going to be a tough match, as I repeatedly said, tough and close. My biggest fear is the attitude of our players, that they believe the hype surrounding them after that semi final. Hopefully, the experience they gained throughout the years will make them keep a cool head and focused for the task ahead, which isn't going to be easy by any means.

Let's just hope the players didn't read that post made by Kroos a few days ago.

When was the last pen shootout the Germans had? Should it go to that, which I dont believe. Also has there been a team that won two shootouts in a row?

Mueller need one goal to equal James, so he will do that. Put money on it. Also this WC just needs one goal to equal 1998!

I thought muller and james are both on 5 already?

I'm pretty confident, as long as we don't concede first Smile then i could see a 0-1 loss, which is one of the worst results in a final imo.

James has six (pen in the last match vs. Brazil). If Müller scores he'll win the golden boot, as he has more assists.

And I agree, it'll be important to score first, that would be of tremendous help.

Same starting lineup as in the 1/4 finals and semis:

Neuer - Lahm, Boateng, Hummels, Höwedes - Schweinsteiger, Khedira - Müller, Kroos, Özil - Klose

Argentina's starting XI the same as in the semis, too. No Di Maria.

Romero - Zabaleta , Demichelis , Garay , Rojo - Mascherano , Biglia - Perez , Lavezzi - Messi - Higuain

Low said they wanted to DOMINATE football for years to come! Very Happy

Got my bratwurst and nutella sandwich ready.

Think if Germany gets an early goal, this will turn into a rout, dont forget Argentina havent had a single  easy match so far. They cant seem to score.

For the last time...MR PGD! Abysmal! Sad

Kramer seems to replace him.
