He's scored 2 goals now.

The African Messi, they call him. Completely different player to the one who flopped at Arsenal, stuff like this happens sometimes. Like when Bergkamp became so good at Arsenal after underwhelming us at Inter.

Roma are a much better team than what Napoli were last season... its is sad that they are in a group with Bayern & City, who are two of the toughest teams to play against... if it were Arsenal & Dortmund instead, I would fancy Roma going through...Bayern & City may be a bit too tough for them.

Why can't Bayern put the ball in the net?

As it stands we are the only English team to win Cool

Boateng was immense even before he scored the winner. Top player. Bayern should have had anywhere from two to four penalties today. Overall a very good performance this early in the season.

Benatia on Silva was probably the most obvious one.

Still, deserved win to Bayern. Disappointed with Aguero playing only 15 minutes, as him would combine better with Silva and Navas comparing to Dzeko.

Yeah a fit Aguero is almost always lethal in a big game. It could been interesting to see what he would do against a high back line. They have to make sure he is absolutely fit this time after the group stage, if they make it that far.

Crucial game for us tomorrow in our group - Basel away has the potential to be a banana skin. If we were to win it would give us some nice breathing space to allow us to get mauled by Madrid and still get through. I think we'll need to get 10 points from Ludo home and away and Basel home and away. We've got 3 so far so to get to 6 after 2 would be a fantastic start.

Team I hope to see:

Mignolet

Manquillo
Skrtel
Lovren
Moreno

Allen
Henderson
Gerrard

Sterling
Lallana
Balotelli

Mbiwa starting tonight, apparently playing very well for Roma. Not good enough for Newcastle though, we shipped him out because he's not that good at fullback. ok

Roma have a lot of defensive injuries, hence mbiwa gets a start... I am a bit surprised not to see iturbe in their starting lineup tho, perhaps as a caution due to his recent injury

PSG 1-0 by David Luiz, you see that Barca defense, might be overrated.

1-1 Messi...awesome goal, has to be said.

He probably gets a start because Rudi Garcia watched him captain Montpellier to the title in France.

Or perhaps because Castan and Astori are injured, as is De Rossi. Mbiwa is at best the 2nd back up CB for Roma.

Did they not sign him in the first place because they were short? It seems a redundant thing to say.

Redundant or not, its a fact. Mbiwa got a start because Rudi did not have any options left. He has been doing OK though, Rudi definitely has an eye for who will work in his system. When City visit Rome, hopefully Roma will have most of their players back - that will be THE game of this group phase.

Watched the PSG-Barca game last night and thought what a truly awful performance by cavani in his preferred position, so what is the excuse? I have been reading that he has been playing that position for a while now, and is looking like torres, unfortunately the chelsea one not the liverpool one.

Agreed. Castan - Astori will be the preferred CB partnership. Manolas is the first choice backup.

Roma were missing Strootman, DDR, Castan, Astori and De Sanctis, whilst Iture was only fit enough to play -30 minutes. Shows what a good job Garcia has done and how good Roma's transfer strategy has been. They are still able to implement their game plan whilst missing a number of key players. The mentality is also much better under Garcia - after the early penalty and goal, one might have expected a typical Roma meltdown.

Arsenal 3 - 0 up vs Galataseray who, it has to be admitted, are pretty gash. Their fans have been throwing flares onto the pitch too.

2 well-taken goals from Wellbeck and one from Sanchez. Wellbeck, Ozil and Sanchez combining well but the opposition are allowing them to.
