Tempo kimbo Rooney created the perfect through ball pass for RVP to split two defenders and score with his head. Ten years later after begging for Rooney to play as a midfielder he is getting a chance under a decent manager.

You realise every midfield in the league gets the better of us?

When the premier league is 11 tall men that can jump high running back and forth don't come crying to me. It's turning into basketball. <Ale>

He'd be a perfect Brian player if he was a few inches taller. You're anti-football!

Me no not I sir😄
Very much in the forward, positive and creativity side of the game. Ego controller yes in team sports many have the gift to play but not the mentality to become champions. They put themselves in front of the team specially the gifted.

If by purist you mean someone that likes tika taka bullshit then no i'm not. I appreciate skill though, skillful players are the ones you remember, not the ones that ran alot and covered the fullback well.

Do you think those good skillfull players could show us there skills if there were not the water carriers in a team. They are there in every side.

I think Kimbo's issue is that we're in a situation where some clubs are made up predominantly of the water carriers and flare is shoved away.

Newcastle fans enjoy a flawed genius more than a worker.. And to be fair I think most fans probably do.

That's it, ofcourse you need water carriers, but a team made up purely of water carriers is shit, and it's too common. A player like Gouffran will run back and forth all game, he will never create anything or do anything you'll remember, but because you don't have to "carry" him he's apparently a better option than Ben Arfa or Cabella.

Points taken. The skilled players that fall short in the work department are all to common it is the difference. Germany succeeds more often than fails. Yes they develop their players better and they can mainly because the work or effort mentality is almost always in place.
Our so called skilled players to make a comparison are like a hobbyist woodworker that makes lovely stuff in his own time and takes ages to perfect. The professional carpenter will do complete the same work in 1/10th of the time to the same quality.
The player needs to be skillfull water carrier from a young age not having both assets is terrible for team building It causes a unbalanced capacity for teams to be successful.

It's funny how Phil Neville has to do everything Gary did but on a much worse scale - Gary was an instrumental part of United winning titles and trophies etc, Phil played the odd game here and there. Gary joined the biggest TV channel to broadcast live football, Phil joined Shearer and Lineker in a badly out of date highlights show.

Shearer is perhaps the worst 'pundit' ever.

Also David 'The Chosen One' Moyes was at our game today for some bizarre reason. Out of all the games to pick - he must just love shitty scrappy football.

At least he doesn't openly endorse cheating. My problem with Shearer is he doesn't give a shit, he was supposed to have a go at management but found himself in the pundits boys club, the way he smiles and laughs when talking about Newcastle losing every game is just weird. He gets wound up when England do shit at a tournaments, but he retired from internationals at 29/30 and refused to come back. What does he actually want?

Phil Neville really is dreadful. G Neville even did the diving debate thing on Sky years ago... and put forward a reasonable argument about it, rather than just "He's got a right to go down".

Only a few games with a team in a bad rut. Rodgers did equally poorly when he first became a manager. <Ale>

Club legend is meant to revitalise a team in a rut e.g King Kenny made us look quite good for a few months after the turgid displays under Roy Hodgson. Shearer couldn't even do that. Can you ever envisage a player being motivated by Alan Shearer?

Did actually look like the Spurs defender got a little bit of the ball in that tackle.

I don't know, he was a good captain. Anyway i'm not saying he would be a good manager, i'm just saying I don't judge him on those few games with Newcastle, and I would expect him to have a better go at it. No one could have got results out of that Newcastle team, they hadn't been training properly and were unfit, they couldn't play 2 halves. Plus there were players like Michael Owen around that didn't give a shit.
