Top of the table clash today.

Some seasonal streaks are going to tumble tonight... (Napoli stats include EL games)

1. Goal-less?
Napoli - Have not conceded a goal in last 7 games, winning 6.
vs
Inter - Have not conceded a goal in last 4 games, winning all 4.

2. Goals?
Napoli - Have scored all 8 home games so far this season, at an average of 3 goals per game.
vs
Inter - Have scored in each of their last 5 games at an average of 1.6 goals per game.

3. Winning streak?
Napoli - Have won the last 4 games.
vs
Inter - Have won the last 4 games.

4. Unbeaten streak?
Napoli - Have not yet lost a game at home.
vs
Inter - Have not yet lost a game away from home.

Something's gotta give. A true blue top of the table clash.

Looked forward to this game but will miss because I have to go to the cinema. Haven't seen Inter that much but I hear Mancini is steadily building on his team in prudent fashion. It is turning out to be the tightest race in a long time. Have my doubts about Milan but then no side seems too convincing.

Im watchin Milan v Inter then it made realise this thread hasnt got updated sinc the last time we had this fixture. Then I took a glance at the table and now i know why.

Inter fucking trew it...a 9 point lead ahead of Juventus..only to trail them by 9 or so...thats bad. Even for Mancini.

Inter's season is unravelling fast, that's 2 3-0 defeats in a row.

Inter were punching above their weight before I guess but I'm sure they will recover. Just wondering if they can back to to their grinding results style of earlier or if they will simply compete for Cl places now.

For Inter, getting to Top 3 will be like winning the Scudetto this season. We are way out of the scudetto race, truth be said we were never in it - even when we were leading the table. There are far better equipped clubs in Italy - Juve & Napoli are currently playing at a level this Inter are not even capable off. Roma are also a much better squad, but they have been underperforming.

Inter were punching way above their weight, that was obvious. But because of Roma's underperformance, there is 1 CL spot up for grabs, and it could be any of the 4 clubs fighting for it - Inter, Fiorentina, Milan, or Roma. These clubs are within 6 points of each other, and I see this gap reducing in this month. I have a bad feeling (looking at the fixtures) that Milan and Roma will catch up to Inter and Fiorentina in the next 4-5 weeks. The next 5 games (away games in orange):

Fiore: 45 pts: Bologna - Inter - Atalanta - Napoli - Roma
Inter: 44 pts: Verona - Fiorentina - Sampdoria - Juventus - Palermo
Roma: 41 pts: Sampdoria - Carpi - Palermo - Empoli - Fiorentina
Milan: 39 pts: Udinese - Genoa - Napoli - Torino - Sassuolo

On the title race, there are 3 defining weeks coming up for Napoli after this weekend - they will face Juventus, Milan and Fiorentina back to back.

Serie A is looking very competitive this time. If Napoli take EL seriously, I would put them as favourites for that title. And Juventus may give Bayern a good run for their money. Next season, it looks like we will have the top 6 clubs in Europe. That would make things interesting.

I was gutted that Juve took it in the end. Napoli should have done more in the game even if it were up to Juve to claw back. And they get a deflection. Sad

At least Juve didn't win it with a dodgy penalty like they usually do.

I really really hope Juve don't win it this year. Serie A needs something fresh. Incredible run they are on though. I figured they would struggle but you have to hand it to Alegri who has certainly proven himself first by winning with Milan then improving Conte's Juve and now building a new team. Nonetheless it would be fantastic for Italy if Napoli could win it and build on it. Especially because I think many of the big players like Higuain, Hamsik, Insigne, Callejon would probably stay with in Napoli so they have the potential to maintain the core and focus on beefing up for another title and Cl run.

More than Allegri, who has done a fantastic job, you gotta hand it to Marotta. He has been brilliant at rebuilding Juve over the years, the main reason behind Juve's dominance over the last 5 years. Even this season, he managed to replace the leaving key players so well. Man Utd or Chelsea should forget about Conte or Allegri, if they want long term success, they need to target Beppe Marotta as the Director of sport. All of Juve's key recruits over the last 5 years have his hand behind it.

I don't think we flopped - sadly this is exactly our level since two months.

And yeah anybody not called Mancini would already have gotten the sack over it.

Speaking of boring leagues....they started with a million points behind and are still fucking winning it, Juve of course.

I really was hoping for Napoli..
