1)Real Madrid: 202m
2)Barcelona: 179.1m
3)Juventus: 173.7m
4)Man Utd: 167.8m
5)AC Milan: 165m
6)Chelsea: 152.8m
7)Inter Milan: 142.8m
8)Bayern Munich: 141.5m
9)Arsenal: 133m
10)Liverpool: 121.7m
Source: Deloitte: 2005/6

We know why that is.

It would be interesting to compare Barca and Real's figures to before the TV deal came in.

Also, how have Juventus overtaken Man Utd?

They're in Serie B for fucks sakes!

Oh, and so much for the EPL being filthy rich and destroying football through buying all the quality!

There are as many Serie A teams and they're better positioned as well!

I believe there are in fact 8 EPL teams in the top twenty.

These statistics are dubious anyway.

As I said, a team that plays in Serie B and attracts minimal crowds and who had their prize winning taken away from winning the legue title ast season cannot be third based on a quarter final in the Champs league and flogging off Notts County shirts

Quit your crying, the TV deals in spain are evenly distributed throughout the leauge just like in EPL, although the "Top Dogs" do get an extra income via there big tv deals, but so do the english top 4.

What about the huge individual TV deals that Barca and Real just signed?

For all your earnings you're not profitable anyhow. Probably because of th wastes of space like Carlos, Ronaldo and Beckham who were on 120,000 a week to sit in a tapas bar and eat paella whilst drinking a cervaja

Yeh, thats it ok

Out CL run moved us ahead of you anyhow, can't see what it has to do with anything league based.

Our new 60,000 stadium + the fact we actually fill it should push us up the list anyhow

Not a fan of snow or is it just that time of month?

as i mentioned intially, EPL top 4 also have their deals Doh Admitely, RM and Barca make more but the figures you hear in the papers/Media are BS.

Not profitable? scratch Laugh Doh How does that work we're #1. Thanks to the likes of RB, ZZ, Ronaldo, Figo and unfortantely Beckham, we made huge strides in the merchandise front, and help us wipe out debts left by Sanz, and spending millions each summer mainly due to infilated prices..blah blah..

It was only 3 or so years ago we were winning La Liga's and CL's, 2 in the short space -- winnings from them also are a source of revenue.

ok

Not profitable Laugh

Not the most profitable - you may earn 40m more than Man Utd but they're 'more profitable' than you.

That means that you're wasting 40m a year on something - doesn't sound like a well run business to me if you're wasting 40m that an Utd aren't ok

1. Real Madrid, 292, 2 milhes de euros
2. Barcelona, 259, 1
3. Juventus, 251,2
4. Manchester United, 242, 6
5. AC Milan, 238, 7
6. Chelsea, 221, 0
7. Inter Milo, 206, 6
8. Bayern Munique, 204, 7
9. Arsenal, 192, 4
10. Liverpool, 176, 0
11. Lyon, 127, 7
12. Roma, 127, 0
13. Newcastle, 124, 3
14. Schalke 04, 122, 9
15. Tottenham, 107, 2
16. Hamburgo, 101, 8
17. Manchester City, 89, 4
18. Glasgow Rangers, 88, 5
19. West Ham, 86, 9
20. Benfica, 85, 1

Deloitte's figures take into account income from ticket sales, merchandising and broadcasting contracts but do not include transfer revenues and does not calculate profitability.

------------------------
So in other words...not accurate enough, not all the clubs in the world are taken in account, biased towards ticket sales and broadcasting contracts.

So i wonder what certain clubs are doing in this list. Some of the big ones i can understand but others....
What it takes to be in the list then. Only a couple of "chosen ones"? It would be very interesting to know that from the Deloitte's guys.

Yes, we're npt the "most" profitable, but we are profitable, back tracking on your words eh Tweeds Razz

And how you came to the conclusion we're wasting 40M i have no idea, the list is talking about who has the most money...

Not that im fussed, but how you can work out the profitablity w/o looking at a club cash flow etc etc i have no idea.

Man Utd earn 168m

You earn 202m

Man Utd are the most profitable European club.

So that means that Real are earning 34m more but Man Utd are mor profitable, so you're wasting a minimum of 34m

Where does it say MU are the most profitable?

And how can you talk about profitable when Transfer revenue, and other cost/income isnt included? scratch

@ proteus

The huge gap in income between 10th and 11th is of interest - its as though there are ten teams out way above any of the rest

As I said its in the article.

If we're talking transfer revenue then Man Utd are certainly more profitable than Madrid

June 06...

Fair enough, but w/o looking at Transfer revenues, you cant directly work out profitablity from this table.

Well in the 05/06 season Man Utd didn't spend that much on transfers whereas you yourselvs did.

As someone has said, these statistics are useless in that they a) don't take account of all forms of revenue and b) don't look at profitability which is what matters at the end of the day.

Yep, protheus is right. So in actual fact this table is rather pointless, would be intresting to see the table for the most profitable.

From time to time some study of the richer club in the world come by.

To be honest i never see one unbiased. They look like being contracted by someone who wants to display some economic aspect of the clubs.

They never use REAL accounting classifications like any major company.
They NEVER use all clubs, only the ones they want to give the spotlight.

So this one is just "one more" of the endless biased "economic studies".

Naaa what i care about is the trophies. That is what football is all about.
I care about the fact we have
2 world club cups
2 champions cups
1 uefa cup
1 european supercup

The others can have all the money, all big contracts. That help but it is not all. You can have all your "moral" victories i want the silverware any day Razz

But since i work with accounting i can give no credibility to such studies when they are not concise and biased towards certain aspects of the avaliation. You can not say "the richer of the world" when you use a criteria that consists of certain items of the whole accounting avaliation.
You must start by using the same criteria with ALL the clubs in the world with its profits and also its expenses.
Then when you have all in the same boat you can compare them and make a table concearning several aspects of the clubs (cash flow, revenues, etc).
To simplify this to a table they use just some aspects THEY chose to avaliate and call it "table of the richers clubs in the world" is a joke.
