Spurs reject tops La Liga scoring charts..

Post by Disco Benny on Thu Feb 22, 2007 12:10 pm

What is going on with Fredi Kanoute?

Above average but not special for his long stint in EPL,

now he's tearing holes in La Liga defences every week.

A fine EPL export if I ever saw it: not even good enough for Spurs... Laughing

What is the general opinion regarding Fredi - one hit wonder or one of Europe's finest?

    Fredi Kanoute Sevilla 18
    Ronaldinho Barcelona 16
    Diego Milito Real Zaragoza 15
Ruud van Nistelrooy Real Madrid 11
    David Villa Valencia 10
    Fernando Baiano Celta Vigo 9
    Fernando Morientes Valencia 9
    Luis Garcia Espanyol 8
    Raúl Tamudo Espanyol 8
    Soldado Osasuna 8

Fairly strange seeing him above the likes of Villa and van Nistelrooy but Sevilla are a very good side and he fits their own style of play perfectly.

Both Kanoute and Morientes struggled in England, but with the different styles they succeed over there because it plays to their own strengths. Van Nistelrooy is obvious quality so he was always going to get goals over there. As Parky said, it is like Forlan last season. He hasn't been doing much this year.

How is Kezman doing at Atletico?

    Hahaha

Thought he was still there, at Fenerbahce now I see.

Shows how much he has gone off the radar.

i think kanoute has added to his game. he seems more skilled and rounded as an attacker.he does more tricks and is better in link up play so i to feel he has improved from his tottenhame time.

Kanoute + the strengths and explossiveness of henry = world class.

He's still a very good player though. He holds the ball up well and is good on the ball even if there isn't a lot of space to play.

Personally, I'm beginning to think that it's just not hard to score in Spain, see Barca and Real defending. Just comical.

He's slightly lazy...if he wasn't he'd be one of the best strikers in Europe...although I think he is up there anyway..he seems to score goals for fun, as well as having other good attributes...

Kanoute is a very good player, when there was that thread before about players who have done it in two leagues some people (cesc)Biggrin did not agree he had for some reason, but he clearly has. He was very good for tottenham, they fell out with him not his performances. This guy done it in the uefa cup and the prem not just la liga. As for Forlan he did well the following season also, but now without riquelme he is finding it harder to score.

Owen - do you not think Spain just suits some players better ?

It is the best league in the world when it comes to technique, passing and skills but the defending there is sometimes comical as owen said. Just read this from Baptista:

"It's not easy to be a regular in the Arsenal side, even less so as a striker, and I genuinely believe playing in attack here is more difficult than in Spain."

I read something similar from morientes a while back.

of course in spain you try to play more offensive and try to use your attacking talent. whereas in england you have to add fighting to your skills. and as i said he looks different to the tottenham kanoute and also he plays in a team that are great offensive.

In my defence that may have been a while ago and he has hit the scoring charts recently. If he finishes top at the end of the season like Forlan then he really has done it in different leagues.
