In the summer Liverpool were looking for a striker.

Berbatov and Kuyt were both available for around the same price.

This is why i brought up

Berbatov > Kuyt

because i think Liverpool could have signed Berbatov in the summer.
But if we were to turn it round onto Man U...

Kuyt >> Saha ok

Maybe Man U would be in with a better shout of winning the CL if they had signed Berbs or Kuyt instead of persisting with Saha. Erm

Saha's got more CL goals and assists than Kuyt though.

Kuyt has more in the league though. Enjoy going round in circles, don't we?

I wanted SAF to sign a striker in the summer. SAF wanted Torres but that didn't happen. I think Martins would have been a good signing for us.

Getting back to Kuyt v Saha

Prem:
Kuyt - Apps: 23, Goals: 9, Assists: 3
Saha - Apps: 18, Goals: 8, Assists: 5

CL:
Kuyt - Apps: 6, Goals: 0, Assists: 2
Saha - Apps: 5, Goals: 4, Assists: 2

FA Cup:
Kuyt - Apps: 1, Goals: 1
Saha - Apps: 2, Goals: 1

But this is Kuyt's first season with Liverpool.

I really don't get this Kuyt vs. Berbatov thing. What's the point, seriously? Both are doing well for their clubs, both clubs are happy to have them, so what's the fuss?

Owen hasn't had the best of seasons, that's true.

but to say he suddenly dropped below Berbatov in the pecking order is a bit rash, Otto.

I always like Berbatov but he is like many other players - excellent but not quite top class. The same as Saha and Kuijt as well as a host of other players. He wouldn't be good enough to claim a starting place at a major club. He suits Spurs fine, and maybe he could make a slight step up to another club, but I don't think he is top material. Then again, look what a season a player like Kanoute is having now.

It looks like he finally got his act together in England. Spurs can be happy to have him.

The difference ?

Berbatov now has a Dutch manager ok

That would actually make him lazier and ruin his attitude even more. I think it's the libertarian capitalism on that island up north, he actually has to work hard for his money, unlike in this pseudo-socialist continental European country.

So now he is comparing Berbi to Rooney , have you even seen Rooney play Otto , Rooney with a bad season has more league goals then Berbatov (and he isnt a target man like Berbatov).
Next please.

Rooney still has more league goals than him and still has more assists than him.

Owen has been injured all season so hardly a comparison.

Berbatov is class though, especially in Europe - in the league he's more hit and miss but thats true for the entire spurs squad and I don't think its any fault of Berbatov

Berbs is class and I would love him to play for united, but I definately wouldnt swap Rooney for him. As for Owen he hasnt played football this season, a fit owen (which will probably never happen again) is also better than Berbs.

No-ones going to take you seriously if you post tripe like this.

Rooney is one of the first names on the teamsheet for a team top of the league in a superior to league to that of Bayern - who aren't even top of theirs and Poldi can't even make it in the squad!!!

Klose - Berbatov is arguable - so far Klose has had one exceptional season, about three average ones and a few poor ones. AND he chokes in Europe.

Is this because berbatov played well against braga?

So he turns it on against the smaller teams in the EPL and UEFA cup, but still doesn't do it against the bigger teams, so he is just like Klose

*yawn*

Ignoring the Klose comment (probably the most beaten to death "debate" ever), but Berbatov just scored against Chelsea in the FA Cup, and was one of the best Spurs players on the pitch.

if otto starts a thread having a go at some players, you can't expect that his favourites will be ignored in a response Wink

was away at the weekend so didn't see that match, was essien a central defender?

has he scored against any of arsenal, liverpool, manu or chelsea when they've had their proper defence? what about good teams in the UEFA cup?

THE worst performance i've seen from Jose's Chelsea, especially in the first half, they were all over the place.

We dont allow facts to get in the way of a good story on here.

Berbatov is Hungarian. End of.

And yes, he was good at Leverkusen, but the EPL has made him less lazy and more direct which, when added to his sublime Eastern European technique, makes one formidable player.

Zlatan Ibrahamivic could do with taking note and joining Wigan for the same reason.
