I don't get why clubs change their badges. Villa have got a new one aswell. What's the point? scratch

Looks alright, for a change, the "updated" Arsenal and Juve ones are terrible.

New Villa one looks $h!t. I suppose it's so it doesn't look out of place with the retro Nike kits for next year.

We were forced into changing ours though because of certain problems and irregularities regarding its copyright. A shame really because I much preferred the old badge.

A clubs badge and colours should never change IMO.

Probably right there, but fact of the matter is that most clubs have done one or both.

dunno really. think ouors was a sort of relaunch of the whole villa 'brand' by the new owners. also they wanted to put on a shiny 'we've won the european cup' star.

i think we've had several variations on the same theme over the years. so its not a big deal

I don't like Fulham's new one either - like Arsenal's, it's far too simplistic and obviously designed with computers, rather than the old-fashioned ones which have a true sense of tradition behind them.

I can't remember the exact details Samba di Baiano, I'll search for an article. Basically though the club for whatever reason hadn't protected the old badge and were unable to do so, which meant that fake versions of the kit could legally have the club crest (or maybe a very similar impersonation of it) on them, and the club was forced to change rather than lose quite substantial sums of money.

Just found this brief passage from a bbc article: 'Arsenal have revamped their famous cannon crest as part of a major shake-up of the club's corporate image.
The rebranding will give the Gunners a tighter grip on merchandising as they had been unable to copyright their old badge.

And it is also designed to present a more modern look as they try to establish themselves as one of Europe's leading clubs.'

So it seems it was part modernising, part necessity. I do remember the local news covering the club's disputes with local traders who were selling fake kits and stuff and that the club wasn't able to stop them using the real badge, which obviously helped their sales and cost the club money.

Are you kidding! I think Arsenal's old logo was a joke. Now, the new one looks like Boutica's coming for you (minus the cannon of course). Alright, Boutica got crushed by them Romans, but still, what a leader! <Ale>

The Cockrel stands more proud & upright (the old one looks like it dozing), but the ball No looks like an inflateable beachball.

Changed the font that's all - old font was better though.

I think Fulham and Millwall have suffered most with the changes - Fulham's is absolutely awful - 1st 2 Millwall were good but new one not so clever.

I think fans always moan for a bit when changes are announced but eventually apathy prevails.

That villa Lion is looking awfully similar to my Sporting's... what's up with that? I realise a Lion can look similar, but these two are pretty damn close.

To me the Boro one looks more similar, just red. If the Boro one was yellow it'd be identical...
